Hi, I'm Hanzhe Li

I'm a Software Development Engineer II on the AWS Worldwide Public Sector Solution Architecture team in New York City. I own production serverless services end to end: designing systems, leading launches and a multi-year platform migration, hardening security, and running on-call operations for business-critical services built on Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, SQS, Cognito, and CDK.

My journey in software engineering spans from my Bachelor's degree at Wuhan University, through visiting studies at UC Berkeley, to earning my Master's in Computer Engineering from NYU. At AWS, I built the migration engine that moved the Worldwide Public Sector contract-management platform to native AWS with 100% of users migrated and zero disruption, and I designed a security-compliance service that routes ~1,000 SLA-aware remediation emails a week and was recognized as a VP-level mechanism.

I care about security, reliability, and measurable impact: fixing a high-severity impersonation vulnerability within 2 days, cutting customer-facing latency 20%, and cutting a service's Lambda cost 70%. I was named Employee of the Quarter for AWS Worldwide Public Sector Engineering in Q1 2026, and our team earned Team of the Quarter for that migration in Q2 2026.

Beyond software engineering, I'm a serious wine collector with a focus on Burgundy and Champagne. My collection spans a few hundreds of bottles including Grand Cru treasures from Montrachet, extensive Champagne verticals (Krug, Dom Pérignon, Salon), and world-class producers like Coche-Dury, Ramonet, and Giacomo Conterno. Over the past two years, I've consumed nearly 400 bottles averaging 11-year vintages, with 80% white wine—a testament to my belief that great Chardonnay represents the ultimate expression of terroir. I actively explore emerging regions including Japanese sake and German wines, building a cellar designed for decades of maturation.
